Where there are cars, there are car enthusiasts, along with shows to cater to their enthusiasm, whether it be the latest technology, the best restorations, the most powerful, the most beautiful, or even the ugliest. Here are a few of the world’s best car shows we think are worth checking out.

New York International Auto Show – New York – March 30 – April 8, 2018

Though it wasn’t the first auto show in the United States, the New York International Auto Show is one of the oldest and the biggest auto shows in the world. The first was held in Madison Square Garden, November 3, 1900, showing off a staggering 31 new automobiles and dozens of accessories available at the time. Today, indeed NYIAS 2018, will run March 30 through April 8, at the Jacob Javitz Convention Center, and feature nearly 1,000 cars and trucks and nearly as many technology and accessory displays.

Goodwood Festival of Speed – England – July 12-15, 2018

As the name suggests, the Goodwood Festival of Speed is all about performance, exhibitionists and enthusiasts showing off Formula 1 cars, supercars, motorcycles and dirtbikes, even BMX and mountain bikes. From July 12 through July 15, over 100,000 visitors each day for numerous events, the centerpiece of which is the Hillclimb, 1.16 miles of white-knuckle racing. Three hundred cars, from hot rods to electric vehicles, make the run every day, the fastest ever in 41.6 seconds! Head to West Sussex for this breathtaking show.

Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance – California – August 21-26, 2018

Usually the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance runs every third Sunday in August, but it is changing this year to make room for the US Amateur Championship, running August 13-19. Pebble Beach Auto Week is filled with dozens of high-end cars shows and exhibitions, such as Automobilia Monteray, Legends of the Autobahn, and the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion. Auto Week runs August 21 through 26, culminating in the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, where some of the most beautiful cars in the world are shown and auctioned.

California – January 25-27, 2019

Wouldn’t you know you just missed one of the biggest and best hot rod and classic car shows in the United States? You’ll have to wait until January 25 through the 29in 2019 to catch the next running of the Grand National Roadster Show, at the Pomona Fairplex. True, some of the vehicles in the show are stock restorations, but a great many of them are custom-crafted hot rods, from 30s Fords to 60s ‘Vettes, that’ll make any car enthusiast drool, but not on the upholstery, please. Stick around for the annual crowning of America’s Most Beautiful Roadster.

Frankfurt Motor Show – Germany – September 12-22, 2019

If NYIAS is the “mother” of American auto shows, then the Frankfurt Motor Show is the “father” of world auto shows. The first Frankfurt Motor Show dates to the very beginning of automotive history, 121 years ago with just 8 vehicles on display. Today, hundreds of thousands of people comes to watch the world’s biggest automakers one-up each other presenting the newest technologies, newest vehicles, and newest ideas in the most amazing ways. Frankfurt Motor Show 2018 runs every other year, so the next time you can visit the biggest auto show in the world is September 12 through 22, 2019. To be honest, there are literally dozens of major car shows around the world and, interspersed among these, hundreds or maybe thousands of smaller car shows. This shouldn’t come as a surprise, really, seeing as there are some 1.2 billion cars on the planet and counting. Do your research and try to find some good local car shows in your area!
