What Size Rims Fit My Car

Recently I purchased a new vehicle. It's a nice sporty little Subaru Forester; it's not much but it is quite an upgrade from the Plymouth Voyager that got me through college. Having driven a beater for so long, I didn't immediately drive out of the dealership and straight to the custom parts store, but there is one addition I would like to make my new car. A nice new shiny set of rims. Not just any rims mind you ‚ pink rims. Needless to say, my husband is less than thrilled. As with any new part it is important to get the right size. It is even more important when it comes to new rims because if you get the wrong size your tires will not fit. There are a couple of things that you need to know before you purchase new car rims that will make a world of difference in whether you need 16" rims like me or something larger like 20" rims. The keys to determining the right size lie in knowing the make and model of your care, your tires size, and the offset on your current rims. It is important to consult your vehicles owner manual before you make your purchase. Vehicles are made to fit a certain wheel size and although you can go larger it is best to lookup your vehicles specifications and limitations before you decide to buy. It is also a good idea to know what is already on the vehicle. You can find the offset by measuring from one edge of the wheel to the other. The number should come out whole like 15 or 16. Once you know the details of your current rims you can begin your search for new ones. Rims come in a variety of styles. From classic to modern, you can get rims with any of spokes. They also come in a variety of metals. Aluminum alloy wheels are shiny and ideal for city use. Tough steel wheels are good for those who do a lot of towing or off-roading. The key thing to remember when looking at different rims is that your new rims have the same number bolts as your old rims; otherwise you will have a hard time attaching them to your vehicle. Now that you have all the information you need you can go out and get your new rims, while I stay here and try to convince my husband that driving a car with pink rims will not interfere with his masculinity.
