What Size Rims Do I need?

Tire rims come in a variety of shapes, sizes and looks. Located on your tire is information regarding the recommended size you need for the specific tire model (check out last week's post for clear directions on this). You can also find out which wheel size best suites your ride if you look in the owner's manual. Many cars can handle rims that are larger than the ones they are fastened with when they are first manufactured; specifications inside your manual should be able to guide you in your purchase decision. The way you use your car will determine the style of rims you choose. If you own a rough and tough truck that digs through rugged terrain, you'll need a heavy steel wheel than can handle off-roading. If you are looking for something sporty, go for a rim model with a more polished aluminum casing. Besides needing to know the year, make and model of your vehicle before purchasing rims, one of the most important things you need to know is the lug spacing. To figure this out, take out your tape measure and determine the length across the wheel, between each lug. The spacing will be even. Also, on the inside of your driver's door is a sticker of information that tells you exactly what you need to know about your tire and wheel size in order to make an informed decision when buying rims. Rims are a great way to customize your vehicle. Whether they're shiny, decorated with spikes, or simple and sophisticated, rims can make your car stand out from the rest. To simplify things you can buy a complete tire and wheel package which will arrive at your door ready to be installed on your vehicle.
