You do not need to be a car expert to know that chrome rims look pretty sweet. However, if you have ever owned chrome rims you also know that they require a lot of up-keep to keep them looking good; especially if you live in a climate that gets a lot of rain or snow. If you want to keep your 26" rims looking their best, here are a couple of easy steps for you to follow. The key to keeping your chrome rims in tip-top-shape is simple--keep them clean. Arrange your schedule so that you will have time to clean them at least once a week. Once you have that established, there are few things to remember when washing your rims. First make sure that they are cool before you begin. Hose them down lightly with a gardenhose to get off the bulk of the grim. You will also want to use cool water for this job as well. By allowing everything to be cool you will prevent spotting. Next, get a bucket and fill it ½ -¾ of the way full with water and then add 1-2 tbsp of dish soap. Mix it around a little bit so it is nice and sudsy. When that is done get a washcloth or small sponge and begin to gently clean off the dirt and grime. You will actually remove some of the finish if you scrub too hard. Make sure that you get in all of the crevices so you don't get a buildup that could cause irreversible damage. After you have cleaned all four rims, hose them down again and allow them to air dry. By taking these steps early on you can prevent costly damage or repairs, as well as prolong the life of your rims.
