If you are anything like me, the thought of buying new tires, is a bit of a daunting thought.  I did however, find a few tips that helped me the first time it was necessary for me to purchase all four, brand new auto tires.  By doing just a bit of research, I discovered that finding the right tires for your vehicle, is not that confusing.  While there is a world of options out there, be it online or at your local retail tire shop, those options are a good thing, not something to shy you away. Tires are one of the most overlooked, but functionally necessary parts of most people's cars.  They get you where you need to be, and in a safe way.  This is one feature of your vehicle in which proper maintenance and care is of utmost importance.  Tires are rated by the United States government.  Learning what these ratings mean, will help to guide you in your decisions on the best new tires to purchase. The tires are rated by the mileage and the safety, and learning just what the government specifications are, will not only give you the information in regards to the best value for your money, but to the best quality tire for your vehicle as well.  Traction is also rated, and one thing to consider is the kind of weather and driving conditions you will be spending the most time in. Do you live in a rainy and cold environment, or in the dry and very hot Southwestern desert?  This will have a factor in the decision for the proper tires.  Be certain that your new tires are properly mounted and balanced.  In the long run, this is the best possible action to take, for it ensures the even wear on your tires and will also serve to save you money in the long run.  By doing just a bit of research, the process of buying tires is not such a daunting task, but one filled with possibilities.
